Read the Bible

Resolution #6: Read the Bible
My favorite version of the Bible to read
This can be like pulling teeth for me. I adore a good book, but I am such a skim reader!
I am going to buy a new "The Message" Bible (mine is falling apart). And, I am going to read some every week. Then we will go from there. I am going to record what I learn, and I am looking forward to the changes that come about from it! :)

Learn My Babygirl's Hair

Resolution #5: Learn My Babygirl's Hair

My daughter's are biracial, African-American/White (with a whole bunch of different things to list off )! They are so so gorgeous and blessed girls. Abu is still a little too small to know what her hair is going to be like exactly, but it is curlier already than Happy Feet's hair was as a baby!

It has always been a huge interest to me, with how to take care of Happy Feet's hair. It is her personality through and through, but i have to really work at it to tame the frizzies like I want. This year I am going to take a special interest in her hair and how to take care of it and what type of products and untensils and techniques to use! I am not going to let her ruin her hair with chemicals or heat - So this is a must!!

From time to time she will tell me that she wants her hair pretty like mine - because she wants to swish it! I want both my girls to be proud of their hair and know how to take care of it and love it!

I bought Happy Feet 2 books for her birthday this year. I try to buy books for my lovlies whenever I can that mean something to them specifically! Ones that they will keep forever! BTW They are GREAT books! I highly recommend them for parents of children with this type of hair! (We change the girls names when we read the books )

This is a resolution I am sooooo EXCITED about!!

Way Less TV

Resolution #4: Way Less TV

This year brought a beautiful new baby into our lives, Ms. Abu. It also brought a LOT of exhaustion, and mommy is at home way more because daycare for two children is crazy expensive! This means there has been WAY more time on the couch and in front of the TV than there should be, for all of us!

Today was a good start, we listened to some stories on tape and some music, while cleaning and playing. Only one TV episode after lunch today. This is a much better way to spend the day! Making more memories and feeling like a better mommy!

Kiss More

Resolution #3: KISS MORE

PDA is not something that should happen all of the time, or during family gatherings. That is just awkward with a capital "A"! However, I think we get so caught up with kids and jobs and bills and chores and social agendas that even something as simple as a kiss gets put on the backburner!

Since there is little time for much more, I think a kiss in the morning (after breakfast maybe), whenever you leave anywhere, just passing each other in the home (thats a nice surprise), and whenever you think about it can do wonders!

Well, I am going to do my best!

Resolutions, Resolutions, Here We Go!

Since it is the 2nd day of January we are going to have to double up.

Resolutions #1 and #2 this year of 2013: Call myself beautiful/Don't pick at myself

This is going to be a very hard resolution to hold onto, but any change is difficult.

My mother is a very beautiful woman. I have always been told so by people.

She, however, picks at herself all of the time. From "I'm so fat" to "I really don't like my hair".

This is something I have inherited. I know that her deepest desire is for me to be secure in

myself. When I was younger I had to learn to take a compliment with a "Thank you". I

remember coming up with reasons to tell people why their compliment was NOT valid.

I just always felt uncomfortable being the center of anyone's attention.

I am now a mama myself to 2 beautiful girls! Happy Feet (my energetic daughter, our little penguin), and Abu (aptly named by her uncle, she is our little monkey that we just welcomed into the world this last year).

The #1 thing I want for my daughters is to know their worth. This, I believe, will save them from a LOT of heartache

As every person that has children around knows, kids do what they see, not what they are told! I need to act the way I want to see them act.

With humility at the root; I resolve to set any picking aside!

And

                                                        Call myself beautiful!
